OVERVIEW

Introduction to the Instructor Guide

This Instructor Guide provides additional details and references to assist instructors in presenting the content in this module. It provides an estimate of the amount of time needed to cover the module materials for both lecture and corresponding activities, the learning objectives, sources used to develop the module materials, instruction notes, learning evaluation/review questions, and references for further information. Guidelines for facilitating specific activities and exercises within the module are also provided where applicable.

MODULE INFORMATION

Module Time Estimate

A time estimate for delivering module content is provided as a guideline. How the content is incorporated into an existing course and/or curriculum is left to the discretion of the instructor. Lecture time is defined as instructor-led classroom delivery. Lab time is generally performed outside of lecture time, but it may be incorporated into the classroom delivery. For example, if only a demonstration of equipment is deemed necessary, then the demonstration could take place as part of the classroom lecture.

  • Estimated classroom lecture time for this module is two hours.

Learning Objectives

After completing this module and all of its activities, the student will be able to:

  • List the process for Analog-to-Digital and Digital-to-Analog conversion (A/D, D/A).
  • Describe the methodology, application, and codebooks associated with Coded Excited Linear Prediction (CELP).
  • Describe the methodology, application, and codebooks associated with Vectored Sum Excited Linear Prediction (VSELP).
  • Describe the methodology, application, and codebooks associated with Algebraic Coded Excited Linear Prediction (ACELP).
